ECOLOGICALLY GROWN FOOD
FROM VIRGINIA

Waterpenny Farm is a 10-acre vegetable farm in Rappahannock County, VA. Since our first growing season in 2000, we’ve been committed to running our farm in harmony with the environment, using sustainable farming methods, with no chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

We produce healthful, pesticide-free vegetables and flowers for farmers markets, a CSA subscription program and local on-farm customers. Our CSA serves people in the Washington, DC area, Northern Virginia and Rappahannock County, Virginia.

Updates From the Farm

Rappahannock Plant Sale April 28, 2007

Every May Day weekend, we host this event, which starts our season of on-farm sales. Many local growers come to sell a wide variety of plants for your garden. You can find native plants, flowering shrubs, herbs, and flowers, along with good company and gardening advice. Come to the Waterpenny Farm stand at the sale for flower, herb, and vegetable starts for your garden, as well as spring spinach, lettuce, asparagus, and eggs for dinner! It’s always a fun community event.

NewFarm.org article features Waterpenny Farm

If you’re interested in learning more about the history of our farm, in particular the long term lease agreement that we operate under, check out this article in the New Farm (newfarm.org) from the Rodale Institute.

We wrote it this winter and hope that it will help others to enter into non-traditional land use arrangements for sustainable agriculture.
