2010 Internships
We are looking for one person to work here in the fall, starting around September 1st. If you are interested in working here in the future, please e-mail us for more detailed information. If you have the ability to work hard, can follow directions and work well with others, and have a good sense of humor, consider spending a season or a few months with us. Interns learn the systems that have made our farm successful, working on all aspects of the farm. Through our education program, we have bi-weekly field trips to other farms, give talks, and attend conferences to give interns a background in our area's sustainable farming community. If you are interested in gaining the experience and skills to farm yourself, or if you're interested in having a life-enriching work experience, the internship may be right for you. Interns live together in a house on the farm and receive a starting stipend of $800/month, as well as vegetables in season.
Intern at Waterpenny
Waterpenny Farm is a 10-acre vegetable farm using all organic and sustainable farming methods. We hire 4-6 interns each growing season. We sell our harvest at farmers’ markets in Charlottesville and the Washington, DC, area, and through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscription program. Our farm is located in Sperryville, Virginia, five miles east of Shenandoah National Park. We are excited about continuing to apply and share our knowledge and experience in sustainable agriculture here at Waterpenny Farm.
If you are interested in sustainable agriculture, are interested in learning our farm's systems, and have the ability to work long hours outside, please apply. We hope to find interns with some long-term interest in farming and with good senses of humor. We offer housing, vegetables in season, and a starting stipend of $800/month.Internships are available March 1 through November 15. We are looking for people available all or a large part of this time, but will also consider summer applicants. We begin the hiring process in January and make hiring decisions on a rolling basis.
