Winter squash and greens
October 7. 2011

Fall is a beautiful and tasty time.  We have harvested lots of winter squash, including butternut, acorn, Spaghetti squash, blue hubbard, delicata, sunshine, and buttercup.  They're all available at markets or on the farm, and you can also buy them in bulk to store for the winter-- 25 pounds of any or all varieties costs $40.

Pumpkins, both for pie and Jack-o-lanterns, are also in and looking great.

Greens, including lettuce as well as 3 kinds of kale, are in well now, too.   We'll start harvesting turnips and daikon radishes.

We're still harvesting lots of great peppers--sweet bells and sweet Italian, and we will continue to have some tomatoes for a few weeks.

We will be at all 3 markets, and open Fridays and Saturdays on the farm, until the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Canned tomato sauce, soup, salsa
October 7. 2011

This July, we took 2400 pounds of excess tomatoes and turned them into tasty sauce, salsas, and soups that we're now selling on the farm and at markets.   We have marinara sauce, red tomato soup, yellow tomato soup, mild salsa, and medium salsa available.  The vegetable ingredients and herbs are all ours, with the addition of simple ingredients like sea salt, olive oil, and vinegar.  No preservatives or thickeners are added, and the result is a delicious prepared food that is just like home-made.
